Well I just hit a tire.

So I was driving home with my mom and dad after going shopping and I was driving down the highway. I was getting ready to pull off and I saw a car coming up on the left and just after he passed there was chunks of something black bouncing towards me. I was wondering what it was and my dad says "Hey look out!" and I look up and there the tire. It looked like a giant rock and I swerved a little to the left, but I didn't want to hit anyone passing me (Its busy because people are traveling to go skiing this weekend) and it hit the right bumper of the car. Its a little broken. I wasnt the only one who hit it, there were 6 other people who hit the tire also. And it was a new tire, because the old ones would shred into a ton of pieces when they fell off.

It was a tractor-trailer. Their tires usually shred off all the time. This guy had some new tires called super-wide tires. It didnt just fall off, it did shred but there was so little left on the rim that the guy said it just fell off.

I know this is possible because I've seen a tire roll across a 4 lane highway and seen a car with a missing tire. I was like "wtf"

You turned left to avoid it, and it hits your left bumper... shouldn't you try turning right instead?  You may avoid the tire entirely.
