Author Topic: Help Trogtor Build a gaming computer  (Read 1242 times)

WARNING: Dumb OP

I need to build a gaming computer. I know nothing about internal computer hardware.

I'm looking at these things to help me out.

As I said I know ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING about computer hardware. (I can put it together though) Please continue to laugh at me if my poorly made choices are very stupid because they most likely are. These things probably don't even go in the same desktop.

My Price range is 200-250 (Already have a desktop)

I can't tell you my computer specs right now (There isn't even an actual monitor so I will have to go through some old stuff) Maybe tomorrow

I just need to know if the above is ok, if it isn't give me sugestions.

$200-$250?

holy stuff extremely low budget there. You will get a complete stuff piece that cant even run call of duty 2 with only $200-$250.
increase your budget or in my opinion stick with your current computer. you would only get a worse one.

Christ

First: lock this and repost in the computer megathread, we'll help you there
Second: If your budget is only $250 dollars, WHY OH GOD WHY WOULD YOU INSTANTLY GO FOR 16 GIGS OF RAM AND A GTX 650

(Already have a desktop)
I think he wants to upgrade his current computer?

windows key + r > type in dxdiag > ok
post current specs and I'll find whatever's good in your price range, see if I can get you things without having to possibly replace motherboard if it isn't too obsolete/possible bottlenecking

Ya, you don't need 16GB of RAM. That's a waste of money. You'll probably need no more than 12. You'd probably also be safe with 8.

I think he wants to upgrade his current computer?
He wants to get an all new computer, doesn't own one yet. But yeah for 200-250 you're not going to get much better than what you already have, if even that good. Computers are expensive :c

He wants to get an all new computer, doesn't own one yet
Then what does he mean by

(Already have a desktop)

well, for one
with both those items you got, you already went more than half of your budget. so sadly, you prob cant even buy anything else.

You want a good gaming computer for $250? You'll probably have to learn to make some pieces yourself.

I, like all of us here, am confused.

You mentioned already having a desktop. Are you looking to upgrade it into a gaming rig, or buy an entirely new computer for $200-250?

If it's the former, we need your current specs (most importantly your motherboard)

If it's the latter, good luck with that, you can't even buy a decent CPU* for that much alone.

*something worth a damn

Here's a good guide if you're unsure about building in the first place.
