Author Topic: what is the difference between an SSD harddrive and a regular one  (Read 1748 times)

i wanna know because i'm trying to decide where to get the Samsung chromebook for 250 or the Acer C7 for 199.
(if you think you can suggest a better laptop than go ahead)

a solid state drive (ssd) operates quicker and cooler than hard drives, but costs more and holds less

vice versa for hard drives.

It's a chromebook, so it ultimately won't matter that much. They already have crazy boot times and very little is stored on the laptop itself.

~250gb of space and a boot time in 5-10 seconds

I thought that the chromebook had an HDD and a hellaton of Flash Memory.

the SSD i posted about a second ago is under $1,500

it should also be noted (since I doubt anyone will actually read all of the link above me) SSDs have no moving parts, unlike an HDD which can fail if you drop your laptop
