Author Topic: RTB Dedicated Hosting Service - Service Closing  (Read 361728 times)

Did I miss something? Zapk was talking about having some rtb 4.5 beta but acted like a total handicap and didn't answer any questions about it.
What?

Here's an idea that occurred to me, and while I don't have any immediate use for it, could be helpful to someone down the line: In the save file uploading menu, under load behavior (with "Clear bricks" and "Leave Bricks"), add a "Don't Load Automatically" option.  Could also work as a checkbox. That way someone could upload a save ahead of time, then load it instantly when they actually need it.

Did ny04 fall over? My server's down, I can't access it through FTP, I can't upload files to it through the dashboard and trying to start it just gives me infinite loading.

Looks like all servers on that node failed,  kicking clients with the message "Authentication Connection Failed"

Hi all, first off I'd like to apologise for the disruption to your server hosting. If you haven't already read about it, there have been a number of DoS attacks thrown both our way and at the Blockland master server which caused a whole bunch of issues.

Secondly I'd like to let you all know we've added an extra 7 days onto all active server contracts to apologise for the intermittent availability of your servers. While these outages were out of our control we still feel it's our responsibility to appropriately compensate you guys for any time lost.

As always, thank you for your patience and please feel free to raise a support ticket if there are any issues persisting from the recent outages.

Thank you, hopefully are works well!

Thank you.  I hope that this kinda thing doesn't happen again.

Eph, I am curious about preventative measures for the future.

What is going to be done to stop/find whoever attempted to buttforget your system/badspots system?

There's nothing to be done unfortunately.

Thanks ephi :)

I will continue to be a RTB customer for a long long time.

Also...

WEST COAST!
WEST COAST!

That's a shame. I hope whoever did this lays off.

For now there's nothing we can do except apologise. Dos protection isn't something we can afford when we're offering these kinds of prices and no, we can't backtrace the ip and call the internet police so please stop suggesting that.

Obviously we'll be compensating everyone so no time will be lost but in the meantime if you'd rather just have a refund please email us at support@returntoblockland.com, we understand and we'll get that sorted out for you.

I'll be locking the topic for now since there's nothing else to add.

Things seem to be okay for now. Just to re-iterate what I've been saying - these attacks are outside of our control for the most part unfortunately but we'll of course do our best and try to appropriately compensate everyone for their lost time or work.

Thanks again for your continued patience and understanding.

Thank you for your dedicated time and effort Ephi.
I'm happy to see the hosting services and RTB in general back up.
