Author Topic: Ransomware messed up my laptop- help.  (Read 623 times)

I turned on my laptop today but it wouldn't work. Instead of Windows appearing, some red russian text would appear and it tells me to insert some kind of code. I can't boot into safe mode, the virus literally forgeted up my master boot record. I can't even boot into Windows. What do I do? I don't recall opening any suspicious .exe files.

Go on another computer and goodle the virus to figure out where it usually hides, then boot the computer from cd with some linux or whatever and delete  the file

You don't understand. It's not a file. The master boot record was overwritten.

Also this sounds similar to this ugly ass "gema virus", it would lock down your pc and telling you "YOU MUST PAY OR WE WILL HACK YOU."

I haven't installed anything lately. My brother says he didn't either, but I believe my brother did this.
