You're much better off just forgiving him and ending your friendship with him, You'll be much better off knowing you atleast tried to act kind and nice.
I liked you more when you were a hard ass instead of a try-hard nice guy. It's like a church attitude; "how do I know god is real" and the pastor answers "well if you don't you DIE and BURN in hell, but it's okay because you WILL believe in Christ"
Old block pls
OT: drop the friendship. People come and go. It's part of life. If this is a recurring thing, he won't stop doing it, especially of you've raised it before privately. This is the same thing that happened between me and JazZ/Yola. We had an argument now and again, things didn't change and only got worse, eventually one of us snapped. We don't talk or work together, and to my understanding were both fine with that.
Unless someone is your spouse or boss, you don't need to like or hang out with them. There are billions of other people you could be friends with instead.
