Honestly, I think we're all just waiting to see why you think performances are automatically stuffty.

I would rather watch a television show on TV instead of a performance, does that make sense?

I don't want to be told when to laugh by a live audience

Oh.
Then you worded your post in a strange way.

I normally laugh at the same time as the audience, it's not like someone in the audience shouts out when it's time to laugh, they just laugh.

you're not "getting flamed" for your opinion, people are telling you what a nut you are for making a stupid generalization and stating it like a fact

what you said: "shows with live audiences are bad"

what you meant to say "I don't like shows that tell me when to laugh"

any show with a live audience is bad

it's no longer a television show it's a performance hence it's bad

red dwarf

yeah this
it's oddly natural when you're sitting in the audience :u and they always have some weird comedian dude come up and talk in between scenes to butter people up

this cant be true for the big bang theory

that one handicapped tall guy puts a shoe on his head and the audience literally breaks into tears laughing

its stupid and so is the tv show

You have to consider that different people laugh at different things, I sat and watched it with my brother and he laughed at some parts where i didn't and the same happened the other way round. If people find things funny they can laugh and chances are you'll be laughing at the same time.

oh darn
You assumed that because it was live it was bad.

Is it a bad show?  Debatable.  Is it bad because it's live?  No.

I dont like this show
It isnt comedy. the target audience for this show are "nerds" who know technology. All they have to do is show some knowledge of moden technology, made up statistics (normally a series of random numbers or words that sound scientific spoken really fast) and buzz words like "Bazinga!"
The show is nothing more than tricking people into thinking that they are "in" with today's teens by showing that they know technology like them, by talking stuff really fast and using "Bazinga!" as a last resort

I think it's decently funny.

You guys keep watching the Big Bang Theory, I'll stay here with the IT crowd.

Well run me down with a waxing machine because I am completely floored.
I overheard my mom watching it when I was making myself a sandwich and there was laughter after every single line, none of which were even remotely funny. I'm not saying the whole show is an unfunny wreck but the lines "What are you doing?" "Nothing." should not each be punctuated with 10 seconds of laughter.

People in groups tend to laugh harder at things that aren't funny at all.
