Author Topic: Mouse is moving around on it's own.  (Read 1481 times)

For the past couple of hours my mouse cursor has been moving by it's own, not like really long distances but more of just moving around a little bit in the area I have set it in. It's not that big of a problem but it gets irritating after awhile since I've closed about 3 or 4 tabs on accident by now and clicked on a wrong link a few times. I'm figuring there's a piece of dust or something stuck in there, if anyone else has had this problem could they tell me what's wrong or maybe tell me how to clean it if there is something in there.

i've had this many times before but i can only help if it's a trackball

what type of mouse do you have? the sensor of mine sometimes gets cat hair in it, so i just carefully clean it with small tweezers.

I don't know exactly what kind of mouse it is, my uncle gave it to me as a spare. What I do know is that it's an HP wireless mouse, and it's the one in this picture.

it looks like it would be a type of optical mouse. try dusting the sensor with a soft, dry paintbrush if one is available (assuming the problem is dust). if there's hair stuck in it, then do what i mentioned earlier.

i'll post this anyways
when my mouse gets stuck, i take the ball out and get an old toothbrush, and then brush the sensor thingamajigs
then i smack the mouse on the desk/my leg and all the dust comes out

...and i bet you connect to the internet with a dial up.

its one of those things off thinkgeek that wiggle your mouse

My cursor sometimes starts shaking in the area I set it in until I move it
