How do you make A gif?

I'm trying to make an animated gif profile image for christmas
and I've try'd GIMP and A couple of online gif creator's, but they do
not work at all. You can tell by my profile pic. Anyone here know how?

gimp's easy just paste each image as a different layer and save it as a gif

Gimp doesnt work on my computer i installed it and it didnt do stuff. theres nothing to start gimp up or anything
it suuucks. :O
