It really isn't that bright, you should use brick lights instead.

It does work... unless you've done something like set your max texture lights to zero or you have a crap video card that either can't do multi-texturing or has a crappy z buffer.  Also the light won't show up on slate-derived maps because slate has no texture for the light to show up on which is why I asked what level that was.

I have almost the same problem. I have to look at at a certain point for the circle of light to show up around me. Only for the player light, though.

I had this exact same problem. When i turned off Vertex Lighting in advanced options, the problem went away.
