5mm at it's EDGE
The thing is most likely wedged to be super thin on the edge and is 5" thick in the middle

It gets a bit thicker near the center.

Not by much though
(Not sure if that picture is the right version of it)

So it has no cd/dvd/bluray drive and no protection glass?
What the stuff.

Doesn't mention and disk drive in the tech specs
I'm assuming that you would have to buy an external one

it will use up the same amount of space as the stand is the same size, no reason to be "thinner"

best buy may be able to, i saw a gaming computer with intel core i5, 4gb RAM, 256 gb SDD storage and an integrated GPU going for 1500 dollars.
