are buyable weapons truly always bad to you? no matter how they're used, they'll always be bad?

basically yeah

buyable weapons are just devices to cause players to continue to play in hopes of being able to actually play later- they start on a completely different level then the people who have been playing on the server (who not only have the bonus of having been ON the server BEFORE and thus having more 'player strength' due to their practice) but also have a higher avatar strength due to their purchased, powerful weapons

the basic concept is sort of like easing players into a game by simplifying the experience, but instead of simplifying everything it just simplifies the player himself while still maintaining not only complexity but also difficulty on the opponent's end

it would work if, say, the buyable weapons were actually sidegrades to the weapon the player starts with and are designed to cater more to specific playstyles (and thus are stronger within one field but are susceptible to another) and there's still enough room for uncertainty that they can't play perfectly and players can still sneak through the cracks

- Generic T+T, uneven mixing of different weapon skins, often Frog's mixed with Classical

seriously what are you on about

like i'm not even really that insulted i just want to know what the forget everyone is on about but apparently is unable to tell me

T+T is almost never implemented correctly because people are stupid and don't know what "balancing" means

incidentally, now that i have a super strong new computer i'l be hosting a lot soon; any suggestions for things is good

Often in TDM's, the Classical skins for T+T items are mixed into the other weapons, like Modern.
It creates kind of an eyesore discrepancy between the weapon types.

I've even seen a future-based TDM that used Classical weapons for low-ranking [points-wise] in players.

im sorry
but i've seen your weapon pack loving everywhere. And you never god damn update it so it's always the same exact loving weapons that aren't loving "perfectly balanced" because there are no loving servers that balance them correctly. You should seriously consider making something that puts things under a class or something so that it's easier for handicaps to balance stuff.

And none of them are creative its like
"i mak trenhc u shut shtgn!!!"

I agree with you on all of your points. I haven't seen a TDM that I can have continuous fun on for hours in a long time.

I think it's because whenever there's a TDM, it's expected that your weapon packs will be featured in it. Some people just want something new and more varied.
I'm not saying T+T is bad, it's very well made in my opinion. It's just overused a bit.

for like the hundredth time it's designed to be overused

it's not some sort of omnipotent plug-and-play instant-good-game miracle maker, but it's still miles better then using 300 different completely unrelated guns and hoping for them to mesh somehow

why are you guys complaining about T+T if by your admission it's good when the issue is that nobody is willing to build a map that doesn't consist of cubes and floating neon signs

snip

I'm not insulting the weapons in the pack itself.
I'm insulting the general playerbase's inability to use the weapon skins in a way that looks good.

the guns are generic as stuff.
meshing together 300 guns probably doesn't look good but at least it's interesting.

if you're aiming for a unified art style (note: games typically do do this) you have to thematically link everything

T+T is thematically linked

the DB shotgun and the pyrogun are not

also, the guns don't play well together, from a purely gameplay-level standpoint

Ok, am I the only one who finds T+T weapons good? They are perfect in my perspective.. They might have a few bugs but they are alright.

neither does t+t
tell me, how many people actually use the sport rifle or the pistol unless they have to?
how many people use the assault rifle?
your "balanced weapon system" is stuff.

i use the assault rifle almost constantly and it's a staple on most servers
the pistol is a completely viable sidearm and it's also a staple due to the fact it's usable at all ranges

i'm not sure about the sport rifle. technically it's basically a magnum with a hugeass magazine but nobody seems to use it, which is fine. i guess. it's balanced, just unpopular

either way what're you on about

nobody in the right mind uses the assault rifle, it's just there, because it has no use. it's a slower firing battle rifle. infact, it sucks more than the battle rifle because bullets travel so slow, and the sheer mass of battle rifle fire compensates for that.

people never use the sport rifle because why would you when it's pretty much a non-hitscan military sniper.

the pistol is a loving peashooter and it's impossible to hit anyone at range unless they stand still.

the battle rifle is super forgetin easy to dodge at anything beyond mid-short range and the assault rifle does double damage for every first shot in a burst. they're different playstyles and you clearly move toward the battle rifle (and that's fine) but the assault rifle is better at conserving ammo due to it's comparatively low rate of fire and mid-long range areas within maps; even though the battle rifle's stronger within a certain area the assault rifle is more versatile and still is useful at all ranges

note: nobody designs maps like this. actually, nobody designs maps period: again, floating platforms

the sport rifle is basically a magnum, the only difference is that it actually uses magazines

the pistol is totally a peashooter but how the hell are you not hitting things at range it's like super forgetin accurate

unless you're trying to get someone from across the atlantic ocean or something
