The funnest TDM i've played in a while was a TDM with random weapons scattered around afghan DM, you started off with a stuffpistol and made a bee line for the closest, good weapon. It was really fun.

TT2 argument:
The pistol's actually a really good weapon if you know how to use it. DO NOT charge full-speed at the enemy firing like there's no tomorrow. This is the best way to die. Pistols are good for ambushes - hide behind a corner and suddenly shoot them from behind before they know where you are. Chances are you will shoot them full of dead.

Also the assault rifle's incredibly more accurate than the battle rifle. I can snipe people with that thing.

Agreed. The buyable weapons system does need to be fixed, as well as the low creativity in maps.

why are you voluntarily fighting a guy with a shotgun with a pistol

a gun is not made balanced by making it forget-all overpowered, there are things other guns do better (everything besides all-range compatibly and mag size really) and any weapon is better over it within that weapon's turf

the pistol's schtick is that it lets you round yourself out by not being helpless outside your own effective range

also yeah that's totally doable, assault rifle sniping. where've you been?

Seems like my new Pacific TDM/CTF/Dogfight would solve your issues.  The only thing you'd have against it is that I use the ever so reliable T+T pack.

Bushido, I've used T+T in all of my TDMs, and they were fantastic, but that was because all the TDMs were more modern.  I'm moving in to older stuff, so maybe it would do you and the community good to make some era-based weaponry.
