I'm not saying it's okay I'm just saying you guys are blowing this out of proportion.
I don't personally see it, I felt I needed to express a level of anger in order to get my point across more sternly.

I dislike modifications add-ons that give idiots advantages over others, and this one in particular could spread very easily, just as the /slap command did.

v1.1
  • Name now supports up to 4 words (ignore words via "--")
  • /SayAs help tells you how to use the command
What are you doing.

If this ever happens, which it won't, we'll all give you a big badge that says "I TOLD YOU SO!"

Damn now it can be used by even the most stupidest of people, why are you trying to make a addon better that more people hate than like.

This is pure stupidity, the addon is total stuff quit trying to make it better. Its an abomination, its like trying to revive a dead deer even after you ran over it twice.

This stuff is like the death ion cannon but less it doesn't crash the game.
I can't even describe my current state of anger so I will simply say it in the most simple way I can.

Thank you for your steaming pile of bullstuff that may have added more restrictions to scripting and may have broken existing chat addons.

I hope this gets fail binned soon.

This add-on has an extremely high chance of being failed, and your reputation on the forums will plummet so long as this topic exists.

EDIT:
-snip-
This.

The reason behind this add-on resulting in a strong possibility of code restrictions is the fact that players will simply rename the add-on, after it has been failed, and continue to abuse it.

Well it is 12/12/12 but we should be acting like this on 12/21/12.

Honestly though we have had enough functions removed due to the fact their used in abusive ways like this.

The reason behind this add-on resulting in a strong possibility of code restrictions is the fact that players will simply rename the add-on, after it has been failed, and continue to abuse it.
I'm sorry, but in what way is it abusive? Oh no, they'll host a server and display a message in the chat!

He has all but confirmed he will continue to update his add-on, which in turn means more admin abuse, only its anonymous this time.

It could get someone innocent banned, create dramas on innocent people, and would even allow people to make fake dramas about innocent people.

So I don't think this was the best idea.

If this wasn't clear enough;

/SayAs -- Mike -- I'm gonna hack the server!
Mike: WTF THATS NOT ME
>> Host bans Mike for threatening to hack the server

Abusive admin gets off scott-free.

I once joined a server where the host used the console to meddle with me like this. I said "Oh look, someone is messing with me using serverCmdMessagesent." they deemed me "smart," and made me an admin, which in retrospect could have been fake, too. I never found out, because I left immediately afterward because the server was clearly run by morons.

Fun? Filming?
If fun is just your way of saying "screwing with people," then you overlooked the word "productive." And nobody uses the chat when filming any decent video. If it's necessary, then can be evented so it only appears on the cameraman's screen and doesn't bother anyone else.

I'm sorry, but in what way is it abusive? Oh no, they'll host a server and display a message in the chat!
"Oh no, he'll gather a bunch of people of similar faith in the same area!" - Applying a more extreme degree of your "cut-out-the-problematic-parts-and-details-so-now-it's-okay" trick to Riddler.

If this wasn't clear enough;

Abusive admin gets off scott-free.
Alternately,
Mike: I'm gonna hack the server!
Mike: WTF THATS NOT ME
>> Host deadmins unsuspecting friend for abusing /SayAs

Siba and .:Taboo:., calm your tits.

First off, if you can't handle this mod then you can't administrate your own server and shouldn't even be hosting.

Second, How about some constructive criticism instead of telling him to delete this.

Third, if you don't like it then don't download it and don't have it in your server. Don't join servers that have it. Point out when your being impersonated, etc.

Personally, this could be useful for fun or videos and i could handle this add-on as my admins at my server aren't immature loving douche bags.

Quit whining about the add-on, its not abusive if you have any idea how to run a server properly.

Your fault for having an abusive admin. Or if your Mike: Idiots fault at server for impersonating you. Maybe you could try saying "I'm being impersonated with the /SayAs cmd." Or maybe you could just leave a server with stuffty admins?

First off, if you can't handle this mod then you can't administrate your own server and shouldn't even be hosting.
It's not about administrating your own server, it's about how starfishs administrate their servers.
Second, How about some constructive criticism instead of telling him to delete this.
That argument does not hold up when the very best thing he can do with the mod is to delete it.
Third, if you don't like it then don't download it and don't have it in your server.
Obviously...
Don't join servers that have it. Point out when your being impersonated, etc.
No server should have it, is the point we're trying to make here.
Personally, this could be useful for fun or videos and i could handle this add-on as my admins at my server aren't immature loving douche bags.
The only fun you could need this mod for is screwing with people. Doesn't even hold up as something to use in filming, because A: You can change your name, and B: If the name is taken, then using this instead is also impersonating someone.
Quit whining about the add-on, its not abusive if you have any idea how to run a server properly.
Again, if you run your server properly, you wouldn't have this add-on in the first place.
Your fault for having an abusive admin. Or if your Mike: Idiots fault at server for impersonating you. Maybe you could try saying "I'm being impersonated with the /SayAs cmd." Or maybe you could just leave a server with stuffty admins?
And again, obviously you'd leave a server with stuffty admins. If an admin installs this mod, they will be tempted to use it. If they use it, they are a stuffty admin. Tempting admins to be stuffty is not good for the game in any way.

I honestly have nothing more to say on the subject, Jetz's above post summed up everything.
