1   TheArmyGuy's jail roleplay
1.1   Introduction

Hello good folks.
As some of you may have noticed, I've been posting some pictures of my Jail RP thing in the DOF screenshots thread. Some of you may also have played a beta version over at my server. But I am no here to actually officially create a thread for it and sort of put it on display (brag about it).

So basically I took the concept of a jail roleplay and changed nothing about it. At all. I am terrible at making up fresh ideas. But what I did do is take some common flaws of most jail RPs and fix them, such as:
  • 24/7 moderation by me (it's not up 24/7), the most trustworthy admin the server can physically have
  • A big attempt at not making the build stuff (think background scenery etc.)
The list doesn't go on, because that's all that was wrong with jail roleplays (apart from being repetitive, but I can't make a self-morphing jail)

Expect to see this server up in good running from next week's Wednesday to at least somewhere in February. During this timespan it'll be up for most of Europe between 21h - 3h and that corresponds to about 1pm - 7pm for Americans.

1.2   Gameplay
The gamelay is pretty much standard. The prisoners spawn in their cells (some can be escaped, although cells without an escape route have more spawns to weigh it out) waiting to be let out by the guards, so they can live their life in prison. For instance;
  • Shower, soap dispensed from floor-mounted dispensers
  • Eat a nice bucket of chum
  • Exercise in the yard
  • Play a game of soccer
  • Play a game of basketball
This list does go on. Although some prisoners may have MALICIOUS intent! They might just strive for FREEDOM! It's the guards' job to prevent the prisoners from escaping, and to prevent them murdering guards with weapons that they racked up. The ultimate goal for the prisoners is to escape out of the front gate, alone or with multiple prisoners, and drive off into freedom.
Guards are in a position to shoot any prisoners that they are completely sure of that they're armed and dangerous. For instance, a KEY is NOT a weapon. If you kill someone because he's got a key you will be banned. They're used to open DOORS, not as a weapon of mass destruction.

1.3   The jail
The jail itself is also very important, obviously. First I'll throw in some pictures of the actual jail as-is, and then an edited image that functions as a map.

1.4   Other important stuff
Some additional information that might be handy to know before joining:
  • Tips and rules run on a relay loop on the server, but be warned: freekilling will always result in a 30-minute ban, serial freekilling in a permanent ban (murdering 3+ prisoners in a row with no good reason)
  • The background building are contentless and empty. Nothing secret is in there. I am serious.
  • Rounds last 10 minutes. If you have died, and are waiting, just cam about looking at the scenery.
  • Server will be up from 21:00 -> 03:00 GMT or about 01:00PM -> 07:00PM American time
  • The jail is multi-storey, the stair is just not very obvious as floor 2 has no vital functions
  • Passing a yellow-black dotted line is grounds for immediate execution, prisoners! Be warned.
  • Do not ask for admin. I don't care f you knew me, I have ever known you or even if I'm a friend of yours. Admin will be given to trusted players if it is needed, which it is not at the time. Do not even try to use one of those stuffsack admin application forms because I will just permaban you.
  • In block A1 (the hallway) there's a small access route to my 'office' (I hardly use it) where you can bring all of your tips, tricks and ideas (or complaints) to me without them being lost in the chat.

1.5   Server
The actual server won't be up until around the 19th of this month, due to my finals and some stuff still to add (tell me what else this jail needs!)
We are currently not (and will never be) looking for administrators, that has already been taken care of.

You may rate this build x/10, but be aware the exterior wasn't made to be an architectural wonder, just a functional building with a low-as-possible brickcount. The brickcount is currently around 40K, and will never be any larger than 50K in future updates. So far, no lag has been found by a large audience.

Also ideas on what to add to this jail are much appreciated.
Also for forgets sake I will not ever add the rape mod ever.

It's not up all the time, but it has been on in the past.
Also, I put you on inactive as you were just sighseeing and not actively kicking/banning players (not that there was a need at the time) c:

The build is absolutely terrific, but I'm disappointed by the fact that it's still just an ordinary Jail RP, with freekilling and so on.


You maybe could add a few scattered obstacles and whatnot outside the prison. Some elevation and maybe a bush or two. Just for nice looking. Not that you look out on the horizon so much.. but still.

I'm actually hoping someone could make me a script that autokicks players if they kill someone and that player has an empty inventory :|

Also, the obstacles is a good idea as I deraycasted all of the fences to add some more realism.

One tiny improvement- Use round bricks for the blood in the detention room.

No, but I think I'll ask Eepos very nicely to try and make this for me (and shove a steam game in his chest pocket).

When I actually put the server up I'll move the entire OP down to the reserved post, and use the first post for server info etc., so it's quick and easy-to-access.
