What bloated installation of windows do you have if most of your 149GB harddrive is being used by it?
Windows vista is still on there somewhere.

Windows Vista = XP with different themes.

Fraps files are loving huge
Convert to smaller size cigarettez

To be fair, 200GB is basically an hour or two at highest settings on a biggish screen.

AVI is just a piece of plop. You could convert that to MP4 and it'd probably be 1GB. This is how Aludane and I  transfer video to each other when we film our Blockland show thingy.

AVI is just a container format. You can have compressed as well as uncompressed AVI files. Also, you should keep your source footage uncompressed (lossless) until the final render, which would be uploaded to youtube.

I disagree entirely. MP4 retains quality perfectly given the amount of compression involved, I always use MP4 when doing LNBS and we get a pretty clean final render with HD.

The suggestion you should use AVI to edit is ridiculous to me, especially because some editors gasm at handling 200GB of information.
