Author Topic: Need help capturing an internet page cache.  (Read 684 times)

Okay here's my problem:

Teacher claims he will post the final exam on his website, but for only 5 genuine minutes during this weekend, then it will be removed from the website.
I do not want to be up 24/7 over the weekend, vigilantly refreshing the page and waiting for the test to appear.

Is there a way I can capture the cached page when he posts the test, even if he removes the test?
If I miss the posting of the test, can I still go back to a previous state of that webpage and look at it?

Thanks in advance. Also a reward for someone who can tell me exactly how to do this.

try this out, i don't know if it will have the website or not.
Right click > Save as.

It will save the whole page as an html file.
or this.

Do you know the exact link of where the text is going to be? Like http://www.teachersbutt.com/finalexam.html

I could not tell you that, the exam will be in a link but the address to that link is unknown to me

Why the forget would your teacher do that? I thought the fact that my AP teacher only let's me do my tests until 5:00 P.M. was a richard move but holy crap.

And why is he doing this without giving you the time it will go up?

You could make/find a program that will automatically refresh the page every 2 minutes or so and save the source each time it does so. The refresh part would probably have to be a macro.

Python may be a good way to go with this, using the url library.

EDIT: Well stuff I guess you don't have the URL to the test, so that might not work.

He is doing this because it allows us a chance, albeit a slim one, at seeming the exact syntax of the test. It will literally give you a guaranteed "A", but at a price. You must devote your entire weekend to this. I personally do not want to waste my weekend, but don't want to bomb this test. If I get an "A", I'll have straight A's, and that's killer.

I have the url to the site, not to the test. I don't feel cool posting his site here because one of you forgets might post stupid stuff on his site. Sorry, but it has happened before and I don't want it to happen again ;/
