The fact is, human beings have fundamental needs that have to be met and our development as children effects us to a monumental level in the regard as to how we'll act. A million years of evolution doesn't teach you anything in the regard of sociology.

My second cousin lives in this town, and this is just across the sound from me. Really amazing that someone can do this.... Even at this time, around the holidays. Also, I think the shooter is dead.

Well Mexico allows no guns and look cartels everywhere and a incompetent government and that dude in Norway who shot up a bunch of kids. Now look at switzerland everyone has to have a gun and every male has to serve in the military and there is almost no gun related crime.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is that there are too types of murders that crazy who guns down towns of people and those types of occurences are rare. If you were going to be murdered it would most likely be by someone you know. Like a jealous lover, your brother/sister, friend. Also most cops are incomptent, they seem to really good at pepper spraying protesters and writing traffic tickets, but they couldn't stop a killer if their lives depended on it.

So how then do you correct and adult who isn't raised under this moral status? You would have to brainwash him to the core. Regardless of how hard you try, there will always been gunmen and murderers. It cannot be fixed, or as you put it, "corrected". A million years of evolution seems to tell you something about the human nature, which in fact exists in a more harsh way than you would wish to perceive it. The world can't be all rainbows and gumdrops. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Violence is an occurance of psychological tempering but the choices of the person in question are from the heart. They do it because they WANT to.
