Some people call it evil
Some people call it sin
I call it choice
You eliminate choice and the conscious mind, you fix violence.
People just don't get out of bed and CHOOSE to go shoot their neighbor. There has to be motives, reasons.
They certainly aren't born with the urge to kill people due to the nature of some "violence gene."
It obviously has to do with the environment. If you're raised in the dirty south in the 1950's where racism is everywhere, you're going to adopt those ideals. Likewise, if you're raised in a stimulating environment where cooperation and compassion are valued, that's how you will live your life.
We're raised in a materialistic society where competition is rewarded instead of cooperation. We live in a society where people have to fight for everyday necessities like education and money. We live in a society where people trample each other to death for 5% off sales on black Friday. Tell me, what part of this society doesn't brew violence? There is your problem.
This isn't violence. This is massacre, and the only time massacre happens is when one side is armed and one side isn't. When you ban firearms the only people who give them up are law abiding citizens who are now left defenseless.
I am not saying we should ban firearms and let everything work itself out. I'm saying we address the causes of violence (yes a massacre is violence?) and then we take away firearms.
