I would be careful with HP
They usually have some better price to performance ratios than other companies, but in my experience they cram their computers full of so much disgustingly unhelpful crap that I would have paid to not have any of it.
Like an extra row of keys to open specific HP programs
and it replaces all default image and audio programs with random HP stuff that takes forever to load
and adjusting the volume brings up graphic that will minimize whatever game you are playing
and the function keys are replaced by random media buttons, to actually get to f1-12 you need to hold an additional "fn" key
It's pretty bad.
other then the price/performance ratio, acer is basically the exact opposite.
acer has stuffloads of bloatware, yes.
but you could easily remove it and half of it is actually quite useful (evernote, skype, etc)
dolby > beats by far and that's what my speakers are.
no random image and audio programs on acer.
adjusting the audio gives me this on screen bullstuff, but it never minimized anything.
f keys i have to hold fn to do, also:
in order to adjust the volume on an hp, you just press fwhatever or fwhatever.
in acer its simply hold fn > up or down arrow keys, it's really nicely placed and i constantly use it.
thank you for making realize all the other stuff hp does but don't forget one thing:
the stuffty hp laptop cooler.
its loud as forget and the laptop gets hot anyways.
acer has this quiet, great cooling fan that never causes problems on a BED.
and my brothers hp had his laptop not power on a couple of times, even on a charger.
unplugging and replugging the battery fixed it, strange.
Okay, so what other brands are good besides HP?
acer > hp on everything but build quality.
asus is also decent.
toshiba is great other then abyssmal build quality and the worlds stufftiest keyboard.
dell is stuffty hardware and abyssmal chargers, great everywhere else, but where it fails at is the most important part and that means avoid dell.
