Author Topic: Should I get an otterbox for my iPod touch?  (Read 1468 times)

So for Christmas my sister and I both got 16gb iPod Touch 4th gen. I know how fragile they are and wondering if its worth spending the ~$35 on an otterbox case. I hear that they are good and I know some people at school who have them. Is it worth it?

Not worth it. You won't break it if you truly care about it.

OtterBox. iPod Case.
I don't see a difference.

If you like style, get one. If you're careful about it and you don't care about style, don't get one.

Just spend a couple dollars on a case that will suffice as long as you don't drop it off of a roof.
Or don't be an idiot and avoid dropping it.

Im just super protective now.

Because sometimes at school when Im sitting my phone and ipod will slide out of my pocket and onto the floor. :C

> Older iPod Touch models were more prone to damage due to having a soft metal backing. The newer ones, I'm not sure, but they are probably a bit more resilient.

> Most cases won't absorb shock from impact if dropped unless you specifically buy ones which have that in mind. These cases are usually big and rubbery, or have fat corners.

> Cases make the device feel and look less appealing, and its more bulk in your pocket

> My 32GB iPod Touch 3rd Gen has some light scratches on the screen, but you can only notice them on the bezel. Having used it for years with no protector, being rather rough with it, I can say that the likelihood of damaging the screen with a distracting mark is low.

I dont mind the bulk as long as I get good protection.

I have a 2nd gen and I can drop it and the screen wont break but I've heard (and seen some cases) where 4th gen screens will crack pretty easily

my iphone 4 fell a few inches out of my pocket onto pavement once, and it cracked. just the back of it, but it's a crack. I hate otterboxes tho
some other cases are fine, it's just a matter of finding one I like and then getting my mom to buy it

I think its one of those nights where I pervert every thread title I see.
