Custom PC Information/Help

Hello, I'd like to inform people here on the Blockland Forums that I am going to start helping people with building their own custom desktop computers.  I notice a lot of people here that need help and are usually answered by people who think they are, but aren't entirely correct.  Obviously everyone makes mistakes, but seeing as I work in the field of building these machines for people, and get a paycheck based on such.  Please do not ask me for help with building a laptop, as I have little to no knowledge of the machines and inner workings themselves, feel free to ask technical questions about the machines though.

If you'd like help please feel free to send me a PM, or add me on Steam, which is located on my profile.  Just let me know the needs of your machine, and the budget, as well as any additional information you may have, or questions you might need answered.

I like the idea of this thread. We can use the computer mega thread for non-computer-building topics, and we won't get a ton of ambiguous topics asking for advice.

I guess this is good because Ethan is dead

If anyone here would like, I may set up a list of people to also send questions/information to.

So if you have any interest in the such, feel free to let me know.

I'm not opposing the idea of helping people but all of those threads about computer building should go into that megathread, period.

then again nobody ever listens to that advice because most times people get ignored in megathreads.

I'm ready to mount my mobo but I only see two standoffs in my case. I am confused.
EDIT:
Case: HAF 912
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LE

EDIT: It appears I have more brass screws in the bag that came with the case. How do I know where to put them?

Have you gotten the motherboard inside the case yet?  Or are you eyeing the holes vs the amount of screws?

I'm not usually a Cooler Master case buyer, so I'm trying to find a detailed picture of the case interior, while I do this let me explain the screws, sometimes the case manufacturers will provide extra screws seeing as they are pretty damn easy to lose, if this is true you should have 1 - 2 spare screws?

Yeah I looked around and they gave me some extra screws. The mobo isn't in yet, I don't want to forget up.

Look in the bags that came with your Case, there should be really skinny pins in the bag knows as stand offs, you put those on some of the empty holes on your case, look at mobo and count how many you need

Yeah I looked around and they gave me some extra screws. The mobo isn't in yet, I don't want to forget up.

You're using an ATX motherboard, so the CPU needs to be positioned in the upper left hand corner of the case, with the output devices pushed tightly against the rear panel of the case, if you need further help please ask.

So I have to put a standoff on every part that would align with the holes on the mobo?

I still don't understand standoffs. Do I need one in every hole in the mobo? Or only certain ones?

You only need certain ones, id mount ur CPU and cooler first right now so you can grab the whole thing just by holding the cooler, put the motherboard down a bit in the case and line up all the holes and try and count remember which ones you need.

You need them in vital places on the motherboard, including the top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, and the middle.

Yeah they're already mounted

So are the others optional? Why would I use the other places?
