I would be arrested by now if I wasn'twhere are you getting your laws kid. Heck the animal police even know that I do it. It's really only illegal if you kill and waste the animal. I use them as a natural resource. Because they make a good stew, and hunting is fun.

If I was a squirrel I would want to be shot dead instead of being pecked and eaten alived. These animal rights activists know nothing of pest control.
