Author Topic: Voxel based game ideas  (Read 2514 times)

Changed title.

What would you like to see in an RPG type game which is blocky in a way similar to minecraft/cube world?

This should probably go in Games, but I'm definitely interested.

add characters you can make like in 3d dot game heroes

also, don't over do yourself

There's actually some good stuff here that's made me reconsider some stuff, thanks.

i also suggest you read up on game design and psychology and things of that nature

you need to know these things to make a good game

Voxel Copter: Open world completely destroy-able pixelated 3d environment which lets you make any type of vehicle you want (like helicopters). With extended and customizable values for each pixel that you can select for certain effects.

That'd be cool. Some parts could add lift, some could add velocity in different directions, etc.

Buildable vehicles :D

im SICK of voxel based games

but what would be cool is the ability to resize the voxels like in roblox

roblox is too satanic for me, sorry ):

well i'm going to bed now but i'll read the rest of the ideas later, keep them coming!

Needs more city building games with the ability to control construction equipment and smashing stuff with it.

Voxel means 3D pixel, so dont start calling 2D games like Terraria "Voxel" games.

This thread should be called "Geometry based game ideas" simply to allow both 2D and 3D ideas.

Anyway: I'm working on a 2D space game, where NPCs are softbodies and the player can build robots, wire them together and cause havok on nearby planets.

The player's ship is made of different blocks (Like pipes, thrusters, cables, iron, lights, weapons, switches, wirable blocks) constrained together.

I'm not sure if this game will ever see the sunlight, but if it does: I sure could do with some support, I might even go as far to say its going to be fun.
