Author Topic: I can't understand why my parents interfere with my life way too often.  (Read 3787 times)

I mean, look at this. (Warning: Entire page is full of complaints)

I understand they are suppose to discipline me and keep me from rebellion

Over half the things I hear that I hear your parents get/do for you, it makes me angry on how those will just be "fantasies" for me.

For example.
My dad won't let me talk on here or play Blockland because someone simply "cursed."

I'm 14, I think I can handle if someone says a curse word on an internet website. I know it's just because he doesn't want me to adapt to the cursing, but it's not like it interferes with our relationship. Hell! I do it anyways but I don't go rebellious against them!

Let's get the facts down
I don't drink
I don't smoke
I don't smuggle things from stores
I don't steal things from family
I don't go behind peoples backs
I never disrespect my elders
I never got arrested
I never have done anything illegal (Of course it sums over half of this up)
I never done any hurtful pranks/violation to anyone
I never got into a real fight

I feel like they should be proud of me.

They won't buy me a computer (even though they think it's good for my education) just because the fact they think I'm on this one too much and it's turned into a "god" for me (And if you slow people don't know, other idols is against Christianity. [Sorry if it offends anyone])

For anyone who just thinks I'm spoiled and I have it good, you might be right. I probably just don't see it myself. Even if I do, please do say is necessary and keep it clean and mature.

How old are they?

If they are older than 40 they haven't realized which direction the world is going in. I.E computers get people jobs and people use them everyday and back in their day all they had was pen and paper

Well there you have it

my parents are the same way lol

if they found out i had a form of communication with people i don't know irl they'd probably take my computer away forever

So, I take it that they're extremely devoted to their religion?

My dad is 53 and really loves computers. Age, I don't think, is a factor. He is okay with me on computers. But then again his job is based around computers.

So, I take it that they're extremely devoted to their religion?

yes, we are.

I do it anyways but I don't rebellious against them!

what

OT:

Your parents are clearly stuck in the days of you being a small child; as in within the 6-10 range. They're trying to 'protect' you from the 'nasty horrors of the world' but they're becoming overarching. This could develop into something like the recent issue of that girl being stalked by her parents.

Anyways. You need to stand up to your parents if they're doing this. It is imperative that they do, or they'll always act like this. Tell them you're not a kid anymore, and you don't need their overarching attention for everything you do.

yes, we are.
Like, against anything not Christian type devoted?

Can't help you.  Your parents are your parents.  You can reason with them, god-willing they are rational and human, but nothing you can really change.

While I would usually suggest trying to apply for a job, I know that A: the economy is terrible and you are lucky to get one even if you are an adult B: You are 14 and won't get hired.

So I would just start hoarding money and keeping it in a safe spot. Meaning if you keep all of your Christmas and birthday money, you will eventually be able to afford it.

Personally my parents are too poor to afford a nice computer, so I feel your pain.
