Why is it not for Linux?

Are there plans for a Linux port?

Bloclkand runs absolutely perfectly through the latest stable version of Wine on Ubuntu 12.10 for me. There is no reason to make a native port at the moment due to this and the low overall demand for it.

Oh. :D finally blockland on Linux!

I don't see why Badspot doesn't port it. He supports OSX which is Unix, generally libraries match up pretty well between the two. Plus, Torque comes with native Linux support; so the only thing he'd have to add it to is any systems he made himself.

I know right? id like to run it native instead of using WINE but I guess it's better then nothing.
I mean look at roblox I sent them a email asking for Linux port and they said they won't do it.

Would there be a significant performance increase for such a port?

Running blockland with wine right now!
Would definitly like a port though.

Why do people use linux? Why not just get a Mac or a PC?

I lol'd at this...
Just because of how you worded it.

Running native is always faster than running through wine. I do believe it would be significant.

Because Linux is superior to both. It's incredibly fast, lightweight, and can be just as intuitive as windows or even mac if you download some of the more user-friendly distros, like Ubuntu. Linux is no longer "that programmer OS" that you see people typing commands into a console in movies. Over the past decade, many significant interface improvements have been made and in Ubuntu Linux you actually can't even access the terminal without searching for it directly, just like in Windows or Mac. Furthermore, Linux is completely customizable. You can get some really, really lovey desktops going on with it.

Linux is the equivalent of an Olympic runner, while PC and Mac are like fatass kids sitting on their ass.

Not to mention its free

Heh, would you look at that. A blocklander is on the front page of /r/unixresearch. What a small world.

I know right? Linux is the best.

Linux can actually become an alternative OS, when im an adult and I buy a new PC, if its for gaming but just a home or server PC ill just put Linux on it to save $100.

Blockland really does work perfect with Wine, although I tried it yesterday with Ubuntu 12.04 and a version of wine (it might've been old) but Blockland did not start up, I think it it was because I didn't have my sound drives an it didn't come up, doesn't make much sense but I think that's why.

Someone has also found a way to make dedicated servers work, t requires some work with the terminal but its easy.
