Author Topic: Let's create a DVD case cover for Blockland!  (Read 7734 times)

For fun! Or if someone wants get real fancy and make a physical copy of the game as a gift or whatever.

Suggestions, discussions, critique on styles, images, and text please. Everything helps. I believe creating this as a community gives a more accurate view of the game than if I just made it all by myself.

The PSD is 8192x5489 @ 300 ppcm (273.07x182.97mm) fully vectorized. Once the cover is done I will provide high/original resolution versions of it for anyone who wants via PM. I will not provide the original PSD because the company logos are vectors and thus too high resolution to fall under (US?) fair use policy. (At least according to Wikipedia and I don't want lawyers after my ass)

This is just a low resolution sample to get things started. I can do an European PEGI version if requested after the American version is done.

I used the PC CD labels because DVD's usually hold ~4GB of data and the Blockland installer is 2MB. Using a DVD would be just wasting space.

Blockland has not been rated by the ESRB or PEGI but I believe you need to be rated to release a physical copy. I put in the E rating since it fits.

I added in the Steam logo even though we haven't been Greenlit yet for future.

For those who are going "wtf sierra" now:

And also because the back cover will be so empty anyway.

I added the address of Blockland, LLC even though it should be the address of Step 1: Games, LLC because I believe both are Badspot's companies and the Blockland one is the newer one. They both had the same address except Blockland, LLC has a PO box number that is a few numbers larger than Step 1: Games, LLC. Baddy moved apartments I guess. Also his middle name is George.

why are you so mean to me :c

Because what you suggested was a terrible idea. Player customization can be one thing added to the back of the cover but your image was terribad.

then put it on the back?
it was an idea, but you're really shooting me down hard here

this cover wont actually be used on a blockland disk because it doesn't exist, so using a reference or two to well know blockland-related things (people, builds, etc) wouldn't be a problem.

yes the image itself is terrible, the original image was 100x200 pixels and i wasn't about to spent time turning it into a vector.

you weren't getting many posts anyways, i was only trying to throw an idea out and keep the thread up there at the same time.

I don't think drives that can't write discs exist at this day and age + printers that can print on discs are becoming more common and buying an empty DVD keep case costs about a dollar or less. But true, I'm doing this for fun.

discs are becoming so phased out that i didn't even buy a disc drive for my new rig and it has yet to have repercussions :cookieMonster:
