Author Topic: Let's create a DVD case cover for Blockland!  (Read 8381 times)

Two mistakes I noticed.
1 The subject said "Let's create a DVD case cover for Blockland!" even though you said blockland would be on a CD
2.Why would it be in that large case you had with the examples you made?  Those cases are large like that because they would have multiple discs for installation and playing the game, so they have enough space. But if blockland is such a small game, should it just be in a standard square CD case? Like how DVDs are in rectangular cases?

I'm popularizing. The real title should be "keep case cover" but I can't expect everyone to have done research on the matter. I had never head of "keep cases" before I researched this when I started making it. Oh and when I say DVD case, everyone is going to picture this, but with a CD case over half of you would be thinking of a jewel case.

Because literally every single console and PC game in the past +6 years has been released in a keep case. It's pretty much the standard nowadays. Yes the case is larger than it needs to be but looks good and you can have a larger cover with it. Most games include basic manuals and advertising inside the case as well. When was the last time you saw a game packaged in a jewel case?

Well, not recently, but now they're in DVD cases now, but then they would be DVDs anyway, so I just thought that it would make more sense to put it into a jewel case, instead of that big case where we would be wasting space.
I also think it would just look cool.

Also if someone would to put this on a CD for a gift, it would have to have a modified installer on it, and all the basic blockland files that never change. (Default texture files, ex.) the installer would only install the add-on and saves and folder that do change on the hard drive.  Then it would have to play a modified blockland that takes the default files from the disc, and the non- default folders (like add-ons) from the hard drive.  Because If it was just a regular blockland installer, you wouldn't need the disc/ the folders would be on the disc and if you don't have a disc drive that comes with a burner you would be screwed.
It would probaly also come with something that would connect with steam, like how you can buy a game in a store, and it would be in your steam library.
It would also have to come with a piece of paper with a blockland key on it, and an instruction manual.

... Wow I like going in depth to things.

Sims 3 has that size of a case. and only one disc!

No, I have the sims 3, and it's in a DVD case, not that large case you find with mass effect 1 or a sims 2 expansion pack.

People are forgetting that blood and gore was added into the game via speedkarts..?
Why do people keep saying that it would be rated E?

that's third party content.

that's third party content.
I meant speedkarts as in the gamemode..

Quote
Speed Kart Game Mode:

This is a kart racing game mode originally designed by the community that I have implemented and refined.
It uses some community created add-ons that are now part of the game:

Modular Terrain Bricks
SpeedKarts - modified to only work from GameMode_SpeedKart, if you want to use them in a custom game, download the original
Blood and Gore - modified to only apply when you are run over or impact a wall (and renamed Script_VehicleGore)

It is still officially included in the game's download. If Badspot makes a richardbat and boobsquirt gun and adds them to the games add-ons folder of the Blockland download, says that they were made by him himself, does it mean that it is still third party content that doesn't affect the game's rating.

ESRB went nuts because Skyrim had a nude texture somewhere deep in the game files because it was used in development. It was practically inaccessible because I don't remember the community ever finding it. But it was included with the game installer so ESRB wanted nudity added to the list of things even though there is no nudity anywhere in the game.

How is blood and gore graphic at all?
It's literally some red dots flying in the air.

Yeah, but an ESRB rating is even affected by "Animated blood"

From ESRB -
Animated Blood - Discolored and/or unrealistic depictions of blood
Blood - Depictions of blood
Blood and Gore - Depictions of blood or the mutilation of body parts

I'm going with animated blood I guess...?

edit :
ex.
Bad Teddy (stuffty game) never has blood or gore, but teddy bear stuffing instead, but that still manages to be rated T.

Yep that officially makes Blockland Rated T.

That was Oblivion, and it was discovered by a modder which cause the ESRB to look at the game again, then rated it M due to its violence.
