Author Topic: Computer makes games look smoother?  (Read 633 times)

Hey guys I own two computers a Dell XPS 420 and a Mac Pro thing, anyways the Mac runs Windows so it shouldn't change it.

They both run AMD cards my XPS runs a 6870 and my Mac runs a 5k series (Or something), now to the question:
The mac makes games look loving smooth as hell, it has a far better processor and forget ton of ram compared to my Dell but it still runs at the exact framerate in TF2 (120 capped), it just looks smooth as hell.

They both run VGA cables, but run different monitors but I have used that monitor on my Dell and it never looked like how it looks on the Mac.

Sorry about this scrambled post but what I'm asking is is there any settings that could cause this?

My guess is something with refresh rates being set weird or something.

Edit: Both monitors are 1280x1024

Maybe one monitor is 60Hz and the other is 75 or 120?

yeah its probably the monitors, but it might be the better specs of the mac.

You shouldn't be able to see an incredible difference past 60fps though.

Do you have the tf2 settings different?

Do you have the tf2 settings different?
No they are both currently using the same settings with the exact same config files.

how can you even tell, when it's around 120 fps?

Here comes another argument about the human eye not being able to see that amount of frames.

But seriously I could of sworn that it has a built in FPS Counter.

I would say its related to the screen or just a placebo affect.

Its been said, you can't really notice differences in 120 FPS. It is believed around 60 FPS is about right for our eyes, noticing anything 100+ is probably not even possible.

Different refresh rates probably
