The first major virus I remember getting was around 2008. I had the v9 demo of Blockland and I tried to pirate the full version (lol).
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT

WHY

A while ago, I got a nasty virus that cloned itself over and over again.

Managed to beat it back and quarentine it, but for some reason I can't delete it.

Don't even know the name.

you seriously think i didn't try that?
Whelp, looks like one of these days this year i'm gonna have to find a pretty good reason to format this comp, it hasn't been formatted in years so it's gonna be tough, all because SecuROM was being what it is now, I do not like to have my things vulnerable and everythin- i'm just panicking again forget

Ever since I had a run in with what I though must have been a virus 5 or 6 months ago, I've been rediculously cautious with my new custom built computer. One time I was making tabulature on TuxGuitar and all of a sudden, notes are getting moved and misplaced and stuff and then a save dialogue box comes up and words and stuff in what looked like coding were being typed. All the while I'm combating it by hitting a bunch of buttons and backspace a whole lot. It stopped but I was scared stuffless, and disconnected my Ethernet, just in case I was being hi-jacked. Malwarebytes came up with nothing, and neither did BitDefender, which didn't help my rising anxiety. Multiple days went by where I'd just let my computer be scanned (scan took for-loving-ever) in hopes I'd remove something malicious. Thinking it may have also been a key logger, I started changing passwords like crazy on my iPhone. I never had that kind of episode again on that computer, but I was still really cautious.

The first major virus I ever got was a blaster worm which, out of bad luck, I received from a pop-up. The ironic thing is that the pop-up was an ad for very poor antivirus software. I didn't quite have Norton at the time yet, but when I got the virus this fake virus scanning window popped up and said I had a bunch of child research videos? O.o. Then, out of nowhere, my computer started making this pig squealing noise, so instinctively I shut my computer down. We had to do a full system recovery in order to solve the problem, and then immediately got Norton.
