Yes. I would contribute 20$ to an engine switch.

Since an engine change isn't gonna happen, at least take some recognition to take in things from this board

http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?board=28.0

Do you guys even read whats in there? There are some very useful things (and unnecessary things just for add-ons) that us players feel like we should be able to access by default.

Re-read that. It says nothing about me saying that we should switch for dynamic damage. In fact, I was responding to a quote the first line. The second line with the image was not relevant to the first.
Alrighty, well that's what it looks like to anyone just reading the topic...

news flash: that collision is from beamng (i kno ma shayt)
beamng died.
so did it's technology.

Guys

We will never change engines

this so much

No not at all, Torque3D is an awful bet. The only thing to do is continue developing the existing engine because as I've said - it does what it's meant to do and it does it well. People bitch and moan about vehicle physics or not having interiors but those are not what Blockland's about.

There are more important things to address than most of the things on that board, and also:

You need to understand the difference between an indie game like Blockland and a game like Crysis produced by a massive company with a team of developers.

There is lots of progress right now

We will release the next step around end of Jan 2013: please bear with us, we want to present a small polished gem that everyone enjoys, so give us time, we are already working overtime a lot to make it available ASAP

Also, lots of terrain work done too, in fact there is a about 6x as much terrain [with stuff other than grass on it] as there was when I posted the screenshots of it last time. New areas, new roads, lots of cool stuff coming for the next info dump I'd say

What I meant is that if, by any slim chance, we switched engines, I feel like it'd be more likely to be Torque3D. Of course, I agree with you - I actually laughed when I saw this topic.

You've been here since march 2011 have you?

Yeah so much evolution you've seen. Remember when events came out and our minds were blown? good times.
Remember when he made the addon system use zip files so it was more idiot proof?
How about when the game first came out and it was so good after years of 0002?

I went back and played 0002 a week ago, And it was awful.
Although i do miss stretching bricks a bit, And pigs backyard. And the ugly gui's filled with options.
And that map that was the inside of a computer.
And that guy who made huge fantasy castle maps.

I'm not sure if this is our best bet. But I think DirectX would be good.

it does what it's meant to do and it does it well.

Exactly. I remember someone mentioned that another engine had great cloth physics. What the hell would we need cloth physics in Blockland for? The current engine is fine, and it's came a long way.

Next thing you know people will want Euphoria incorporated into Blockland.

Sure these other engines offer a lot of things, and work great for other games - but does Blockland really need it?
