Damnit I just realized the reason that was so cheap was because the video card isn't available, well still got saving to do I suppose, hopefully my laptops GPU survives long enough.

Edit: I found a cheaper build, how decent is this and is this better?
The second one uses a 7770 and AMD FX-4130, which is what I have in my build. It works, I can run Blockland on max shaders sometimes, but sometimes I have to turn them down to get a good 55-60 FPS.

How does it perform on other games?

I don't play many other games, but I can play Hawken on really high (maybe max?) settings at an FPS high enough to not notice any issues, TF2 works beautifully, same with Magicka and Minecraft. Those are really the only games I play.

Out of curiosity, what setting do you play TF2 and whats your average FPS? I play the game religiously and I beg for a smooth frame rate. It's not a demanding game so I assume you get really high frame rates.

iirc, everything at max with no antialiasing. As for FPS, I wouldn't know how to check that, but I've never been bothered by any kind of low FPS, so I'd have to say at least around 60. Maybe higher.

Anybody know any upgrades for the second one that wont put the price up another 100$?

If you're curious you can type cl_showfps 1 in the console.

Keep in mind the 7770 is a last-gen card, you'd probably be better getting something else.

yea, that's why I'm curious to upgrades, but it does suck I'm on a tight budget.

Danny Boy said that the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard probably wont work with a GTX 760/770. Can anyone confirm?

What would be a good machine for gaming at around 600?

If a motherboard has a PCI-E slot, it will work. Just because it's an AMD board doesn't mean the hardware that goes on it (besides the CPU and cooler) won't work unless it's AMD. That's like if AMD boards only accepted AMD RAM, which they don't.

so i'm going to build a system with the following specs:

CPU: i3-4340 3.6 GHz dual-core or FX-4300 (really can't decide performance-wise)
GPU: EVGA GTX 660
RAM: 8 GB G.Skill RAM

for 587 dollars without shipping and tax.

my question is, would this system be vital for years to come without upgrading? also, should I get the 4340 or FX-4300?

Stick with the 4340.

How long should Win7 x32 take to shutdown? I might have a problem on my hands. I had the PC on for about a week (I had it on longer before) so I decide to reboot it when Godzilla Firewolf stops responding. It took ~15 mins to turn off and, when I turned it on, it takes slightly longer for the BIOS to recognize the drives and the floppy drive's sound is heard when booting rather than when starting up.

i never turn my computer off. ever.
i restart like weekly at best.
if you ignore the restarts i can basically be online 365 days a year. nothing wrong with that.

ive only noticed comps taking a long time to turn off if there are windows updates or something
