I have a 7970, i5-3570k, 8gb of ram. how much would i make bitcoin mining?

I'm going to make this abundantly clear, do not bring up my ex-fiance in any derogatory sense again.

i'm pretty unsure how you can threaten me about insulting your ex-fiance over a forum

i mean yeah, you could drama me, but for a joke?
it could make sense for you to say that to my face irl motherforgeter but there's not really much you can do over the internet really

how the forget did this turn into a girlfriend thread

700-750 megahashes a second which is about 20 times faster than my GTX 550TI lol. Maybe 1-2 bitcoins a week depending on how long you run it for? I'm not very good with calculations.

CPUs are slow miners. Even the fastest CPU on the market won't get you far.

Completely missed the 7970 part. Nevermind.

Ninja'd. Anyways are the 5000 series card OK for bitcoin mining?

so i'd be using my gpu? okay. i still don't really understand bitcoin mining. could i be mining while playing pc games and stuff? or would it take everything i have?

Bitcoins are increasing exponentially in worth. A year ago they were worth around $5 I think? Now they are $40-$45. And yes you would be running it continually and it would take up your whole gpu power so that you couldn't play games. I can still browse and stuff while mining though.

Edit: I'm pretty sure in 1-2 weeks it will go up to $45-50 in price.

Ah ah ah. Don't be too sure about that.

My ATI Radeon 6780 is able to mine while playing games while still mining at a reasonable rate and at a good framerate.
A good miner, like BitMinter is able to pull this off perfectly at the correct settings.

For example, my settings are...
Quote
Work group size: 256
Work Intervals (ms): 2
Manual Vectors: True
Use BFI_INT if available: True
Buffer type: Device-accessible CPU memory (AMD only)

radeon 6750m, 600mhz core clock, 800mhz memory clock (slow as stuff i know)
how much mining can i do with this?

Ahh ok. My mistake. No wonder my card is always at 100% while bitmining then haha.
I don't think you can mine effectively at all using a laptop graphics card. I'm not very sure though, you should try searching on google.

Guesstimating you'd make around 0.016 - 0.018 BTC a day (Which right now that's 0.79 USD a day)

that would be negative profit right? since the laptop consumes more power cost than the earnings
