the drivers on the first issue are installed to the best of my knowledge, AMD has been a pain in the ass since the release of Catalyst version something or other, but would that really keep the card from entirely booting up when a port is being used?

On the second issue, yes I know for a fact the drivers for the dedicated GPU are the correct drivers and they have worked before.

You have to uninstall the drivers from beforehand, from the old GPU, and install the new one.

Installing GPU drivers on different GPU drivers isn't that safe, and yes it can bug out the ports.

Okay, so I should completely uninstall all graphical drivers for the 7870 build, then reinstall?

Every one including the ones from your old GPU if it had any. I don't know how to find them but you can put in your old GPU, uninstall it from device manager, shut down PC, plug in new GPU, turn on and let it install it's start up drivers then install the real drivers. If that's how to do it correctly.

I can delete the drivers from the previous card without replacing it, I'll try all this tonight and see how it goes

Ok

So I might see the issue, the drivers I've installed.. aren't installed.

Even the drivers that came on the disk with the card are not installed, it's just windows running compatibility drivers that it found online.  What the forget?  I've never seen this issue, it won't let me change my drivers, and there's no other video drivers installed.

boot into safe mode and uninstall the microsoft drivers through device manager, then install catalyst or whatever

should i be installing catalyst while im in safe mode?  Anytime I run non safe mode after deleting the windows drivers they just insta reinstall

Yes I think you need to go back to normal mode.

Completely disable and turn off Windows Update so the drivers don't reinstall, any drivers that do install automatically are the necessary drivers the GPU installs itself to run(I think that's how it works) and from there install new drivers.

tried everything, the microsoft drivers seem to reign over all, it wont let anything else install

Can anyone recommend me good headphones for Gaming/Music. Most gaming headphones I find lack good audio and I don't know what to get. Budget is $300.

I'm currently looking at these, they look pretty good. http://en-us.sennheiser.com/gaming-headset-xbox-ps3-pc-mac-stereo-u-320

Holy stuff I had no idea Sennheiser made gaming headsets. Totally go for it, I absolutely love their hardware.

If I remember right you have to delete the M$ drivers in device manager then install the drivers you want

what do you like about reds? I've been wanting to get a keyboard with cherry reds for a while now but I'm afraid that I wouldn't like it...

they're super nice and responsive compared to rubber domes by a long shot.

plus they don't need that much force to get them to work at all.
