also, since i bought my pc it seems that my room is REALLY cold and I think that the fans are causing it. Is there any way to slow down/disable the fans without opening up the computer/buying a fan controller for the front?

That or, if you have an Asus motherboard, use the Fan Xpert II software. It lets you control the speed of all fans that are connected directly to the motherboard. A bit easier to change fan settings on the go, rather than having to go into the BIOS every time. If the fans are connected directly to your power supply though, there's nothing you can do without opening the case and adding/changing a resistor.

PackageKit is broken under Fedora 18 and now I have to wait for the update to pass so I can continue upgrading from Fedora 17.

My friend recommended these as a cheaper alternative in the OP's $800 build:

which is about $90 saved. And he says I don't need such an expensive PSU. Anyone see any problems with this?

If you're going to spend $800 on a computer, the last thing you want to do is spend $700 on a computer in order to get amd parts.

I don't think your computer could cool down your room - the equipment should heat it up (PSU heat, monitor(s) creating heat, etc).

Also, IMO, I like Windows 8 on laptops only.

Though you could cool yourself, the evaporation of sweat would cool you down quite a lot. Ever see a pot-in-pot refrigerator?

Of course you can use evaporation (or any other type of endothermic reaction) to cool something down. The problem is that once the liquid/reactants are gone, you have to spend more energy to produce more of it. But since water is very available and cheap, that argument doesn't really apply here. That's why evaporation of water is used in industrial cooling.

This, and if your not spending $800 on a computer its not really and $800 build now is it ;) and $99 for a Gold Rated Modular PSU is not expensive.

I dunno whats the best but it seems the most expensive one I could find on Newegg was the quad core AMD FX-4130 "Zambezi" at 3.8GHz.

I know very little about AMD but meh, did you even try searching just to get an idea?
