Congrats, you made me literally deskface
Do you honestly think I would blow $237.99 on a 220W CPU?
daum 4.4GHz.
my 980 is only 3.7GHz :(
but I'm pretty sure it's the most powerful Phenom II X4.
How old is the phenom series now?

oi
question
So I recently upgraded to a 780, and I decided to try some Skyrim ENBs on it. To my surprise, I got as low as 18 FPS ontop of Dragonsreach looking down on Whiterun.
I uninstalled the ENB and got the same results as before. I bought this card so I could enjoy good looking games with no major FPS drops, and then this happens. Why is it happening?

Specs:
OS: Windows 8 64 bit
CPU: AMD FX-8300 Eight Core @ 3.3 GHz
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780
RAM: 12 GB

Resolution and graphical settings don't matter because no matter what they are the FPS remains the same.

EDIT: Might be something unique to Skyrim, since I get up to 140 FPS on BF3 and 80 on BF4, all settings maxed with 4x AA at 1920x1080

It shouldn't be unique to Skyrim. You should be hitting over 120 in Skyrim.

Have you triple checked that you have the latest drivers installed?

Hard to figure out what's sarcasm when brian just asked the same thing

Skyrim is notoriously platform-limited. This means that it's probably the fault of his cpu, not his gpu, and I would say that skyrim is pretty unique in that respect. @redmoon, as far as actually fixing the problem you could try overclocking the cpu to see if it changes your performance at all. If it does, you could order an aftermarket cooler and and overclock further, or you could bite the bullet and upgrade to a 4670k or something similar

computer now (most standard ASUS hardware)
CPU: i5-2310 @ 2.90 GHz
HDD: 1TB
RAM: 8GB
Mobo: cm6630_CM6730_CM6830
PSU:  350 Watts
GPU: AMD Radeon hd 6570

new computer
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.50 GHz Six-Core
HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA-III 6.0G
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance
Mobo: GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P AMD 970 ATX
PSU:  650 Watts - Thermaltake SMART Series SP-650PCBUS 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1GB

I understand my new computer won't have the best, up to date hardware, but this is a big step up from my pc now, and the pc now runs the games i like to play on low- medium, so this new one should be good.

I'm building a computer and I don't feel too comfortable choosing my parts myself, so I want some help. I'm going to give a list and I want you to see if I need anything else or if there needs to be any edits.
List: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113280

This what I have so far, I have a case and a PSU (1000 watt) already, but I will edit this post again if I'm unable to get them.

you want a cpu, gpu, and motherboard combo for 450?

my computer just completely freezes all the time. just, completely. like the screen just stays the same forever until i forcefully turn off the computer. is the only thing that could be causing this is my old HDD?
so because of the above problem a while back, i bought this a week back:

look what came in today :)
and the first problem still persisted even with the new hard drive
and you know what turned out to cause the crashes
...
..
..
my mother loving wifi card
yes, faulty drivers and after installing new drivers the computer runs great
so i love the new hard drive anyways because its twice as fast as my old
but here is the problem - what should i do with my old hard drive? sell it? keep it? do something with it?

here is the old one that i took out:

im pretty sure this is it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136317

Keep it, unless you're super broke and need money for something

I'll take it off of ya :v
If I had money I would buy it off of you.

Keep it, unless you're super broke and need money for something
keep it and do what with it? maybe theres something interesting i can do with it?

Install another os on it.
