don't forget to update your video drivers after doing so

Pretty much this, it's really simple. Probably one of the simplest things to replace.

I'd rank it behind fans and internal storage devices

i would put ram up there as easiest. its got less directions then a poptart.

I dunno man, if you put it in the wrong way round then it won't go in!!

Ram is the easiest conceptually, but I think a lot of newbies have trouble because it takes more force to put in than they feel comfortable about doing. But everything except wire management when you're building a computer is really easy imo. The most difficult thing about building a computer is picking the parts.

Ram is without the easiest to put in as long as you know how to align things up.

Some sort of parts sale on Amazon today.

why can't there be a game about building computers for people who have never built one

Sounds kinda frustrating.

Anyways, does anyone recommend a specific mechanical hard drive manufacturer?

So scratch that, supposedly Hitachi and Western Digital are the most reliable. What hard drives do you guys use?

I've noticed the WD black series are pretty common in a lot of beefy rigs. Thinking of getting a 2 TB, 64GB cache, 7200 rpm, SATA 6.0 for around $120-$180. Sound like a fair price?

Can't really say, if you found it on PCPartPicker then you've probably got the best price you can for what you're looking at. Just make sure you're getting the latest generation (2003FAEX for 2TB Black drives I think)
