The monitor has both HDMI and DVI; which you use doesn't matter since the video signal is the same. The case has nothing to do with what ports you have, that's determined by the video card. The xawe is nothing more than a metal box that holds your components.

Awesome thanks. I just need to find a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and some time.
In a years time when it's done, I'll send pics.

Tbh it's probably gonna be outdated in a year. It's better if you save up some money before you ask or borrow from your parents.

Will it matter? I won't be playing the MOST graphically intense games. Mostly BL and KSP.

Yes, because some of these parts may be discontinued when you have enough money. It's not just about there being better and newer alternatives, it's about them not existing at all in one year.

So, my dad is getting my old computer very soon. I'm trying to fix the poor virus ridden thing up and get it back to its prime.

How do you fix a virus ridden Computer? Do you run tons of 'malwarebytes' type programs or are you going to wipe the hard drive?

Do you think they'll be discontinued by February? It turns out I have a strong chance of getting all the parts then.

Theres alot of antivirus programs and tools that can help with viruses if you look hard enough
Personally I use a mix of Comodo, Security Essentials, MalwareBytes (MB comes with a "Chameleon" feature which allows you to launch MB even if theres a virus preventing MB from starting up normally), and some bootable rescue disks
Like I said, theres alot that can help if you look hard enough

In other words I'm nuking the drive and keeping it clean.

I don't know to be honest. Six months is a long time in the tech world. There's nothing to gain by sticking with the current part list anyway, just ask again when you have enough money.

How come this prebuilt is cheaper, but equal specs to my custom?
Prebuilts always have a bunch of bloatware software crap installed on them, they probably get a bunch of kickbacks from that.
They probably work out deals directly with the part manufacturers, buying straight from them in bulk, rather than a middleman.
They may be  just selling at or near cost, so they can just get rid of old models to make room for newer models that everyone wants to buy
They usual cut corners and use cheaper stuff on things like RAM, PSU, and mobo.

God I hate this, I'm so glad I can build my own computers because of this.

Yeah I realized that. The prevuilt I was looking at had a terrible graphics card, and didn't come with a monitor, so if I wanted to get a better graphics card, and buy the monitor, it would've come to the same price.

Also, I think that the school my mum teaches at offers free Windows 7 and 8 to staff, so my mum is gonna get it on that hopefully.

It's a shame that six months is a lot. I don't want to end up paying even more because new and better things keep coming out.

I don't think the parts will be more expensive, just that there will be more modern equivalents for the same price.
