Was it specified you have to talk about WW2? If not, I'd recommend talking about WW1 instead. It's much more relevant than the second clusterforget when looking at how Europe has changed in the last century, with all the effects it had on the political scene and geography. The major Empires that had ruled Europe (and most of the world) through most of the earlier centuries were either abolished or went into decline. Besides, you can talk about some interesting debate about its causes whereas with WW2 you can just blame Riddler.
I'd recommend you just randomly pick a country to talk about, as no single country is most "European." There's plenty of interesting stuff to talk about on each country and how its tied to European history and whatnot. Even Estonia is relevant.
imo getting a general assignment on Europe sounds really dumb. You can't possibly give an accurate general view of the entire continent.
