my dad has one of the really old sets from back when they still looked like legos. it sort of works but it doesn't save any programming you put on it. he got me one of the more recent sets a few years ago, but i've never really messed with it.

NXTs are used heavily in robotics at universities and colleges. I myself have one and use NXC on it. You can even get a Ruby interface over serial port to communicate with the brick.

I've already got two other versions, so I think buying this would be a bit of a waste. Nevertheless, it looks awesome.
