Author Topic: Front Panel Connections  (Read 1204 times)

Hi there,
recently I purchased a new computer case.  When I was wiring everything up, I had run into a small problem.

I have all these wires from my front panel, but I do not know how to hook them up.  I looked at my old case, and noticed that the wires were a weird, USB type connection.  I was wondering if I could wire the connections into the USB type one.

Anyway, here are some pictures if you don't fully understand what I am saying.

I bought a new case, and the front panel connections are like this

But my motherboard has "ports" like this (USB something)

And my old case had front panel connections like this

Could someone help me with this little problem?
Thanks

plug into motherboard

The pins are labeled. So are the wires. Take PWR, stick it on the PWR prong. Take GND, put it on the GND prong. Put the LED wires on the correct LED prongs. They're labeled.

plug into motherboard
not even helpful at all.

I suggest reading your motherboard's user manual.
If you can't find it, google your motherboard's model number and look for an online user manual.

This is a little more helpful, however, the colors and whites are separated for a reason.
You must not only plug it on the right slots, but also rotate it so the prongs receive proper charge.

I had looked really closely and did not see any type of labeling on the prongs, or near them (on the MB) 3:

Those aren't USB connectors, so no, you can't plug them in to the USB connectors on your motherboard.

There should be spots to plug them in.

What model is that motherboard?

On mine the terminals are labeled on both the wire and the prong.

Most older motherboard/case models don't do this.
My motherboard is labeled, yes, but it does not tell me if red is on this side or the other side.
My case cables just simply say "PWR" "PWR LED" "HDD LED"

I believe color = negative charge while white = positive charge.
Or the other way around.

Ill post my model number in one second

aaaaa holy stuff use the computer megathread.

For what the hell does the mb or/and case ship with instructions for where to put them?

Every motherboard ever made?

I still don't know what I should do ;~;
