Background:
I re-downloaded Blockland because my old hard drive went, and I started talking to my usual co-host Kiwi Ninja about what we should do. We usually host games that are different and unique, like when we made TruckersRP a year and a half ago, Navy SEALs RP, etc. Well, he suggested that we do a game based off another game called SCP Containment Breach. I don't know what the game is about, I've never played it, all I know is that it involves facilities in which keeping prisoners, or subjects, or whatever, from the public is the primary focus. We then decided to build an island with some hills and mountains on it to use for our map, and this is the first time I've ever done underground with modular terrain on a detailed level, except for TruckersRP in August of 2012.

Features:

-Mountain with artillery position, radio tower, radio booth, and helipad.
-Docks with graffiti'd warehouses, a crane with useless buttons, and barbed fence.
-Desalination Plant for RP purposes on getting water.
-Shooting range for when your shot just isn't perfect.
-Underground Facility where high-security cells and a discreet meeting room are located.
-Above-ground "Cells".
-Old dirt airfield with rusted and broken hangars.
-Villa for whoever is in command of the island at the moment.

I haven't been on too much, so my building skills are a bit iffy right now. I decided to take on this project to get used to Blocklands building again after a roughly 2 month hiatus from playing. The pictures below will seem plain, not very detailed, but mind you this is merely an aid to getting back to my normal building styles.

I already know it's not the best looking thing in the world, so I don't need any reminders on that. However, any comments are welcome, negative or positive. If you do leave a negative comment, I would ask that you at least back up what you are trying to say other than "Looks bad". In order to improve, I need to know what specifically I should work on.

Thanks,

not bad but doesn't resemble an SCP base

the aboveground structures, although sufficient in number, lack in quality. Considering the foundation's purposes it probably would have better and taller security walls to prevent people looking in without authorization, and lower escape possibility. I understand that most of the facility is underground; however, the one-story low-level wirefence aboveground facility doesn't remotely sound like a good way to keep those kinds of things in.

the building with a roof also looks way out of place. try redesigning it so it fits with the "grey security complex" theme

i can tell you have put a lot of effort into this; keep up the good work. Just practice/find pictures of security complexes and emulate them better on the exterior. One simple way to do this is to make a brick-high rim along the outer edge on the roof of square buildings.

As a general design tip build rooms around 8 bricks high. Gives you more space to work with, allows windows to be placed on them with relative ease in blending in, and looks a lot less cramped.

I like it a lot,  nice job!

I like it. Its simple, which is a good thing if you kept that simple theme continued throughout the entire build. There are areas where you tried to get to detailed, the street lamps for example. I think if you brought more into the interior it would be an even more complete build.

Thanks. I usually do build a lot better quality than this. I didn't want it to be solely SCP, but to be adaptable to other things, too. A lot of interior work, such as the underground, was done by my friend. The only building I really put effort into was the Villa. I'm more of an exterior designer than interior. This was kind of a lazy thing. I'm not making it for show or to be a great product, just a little thing in my spare time. I'm glad to see that it doesn't look terrible in the eyes of the public. I'm still getting used to modterrain, too. Usually I built 6-8 high and double my walls so I can repaint the inside, but with this I just wasn't up for it since it'll never really be published for anything. Thanks for responding
