This year Mars One is conducting a global search to find candidates for an manned expedition in 2023.

It's because NASA has opened the space center in Florida to private companies such as Boeing etc. to build and launch rockets of their own and eventually manned modules such as the shuttle program.

Mars One is bullstuff. It will fail. If you want to go to Mars, wait for it to happen legitimately.
