Author Topic: Need Feedback regarding Terrain  (Read 2320 times)

Hey.

I'm making a castle, and I finished the building. What's left is that I have to put it on a mountain/hill.

I tried making a slope, but it looks seriously unnatural and repetitive. Should it look like this or should I change it? And if so, how?

Pretty generic, no real sense of hills and such, feels more like terrace farming. Maybe add different heights in places

To repetitive. Its barely terrain if it is just the same thing over and over again. It needs more hills and variations. Hope it turns out good!

Are you just trying to do one side? Or are you planning to make a whole "Castle on the Rock" type of thing. If so, try and get the castle on one central flat area, then build around that in circles. Smallest to largest down to the bottom, then try and vary it by making the circles a little more irregular.

You described it how I was thinking, but I couldn't figure out how to describe it. So, THIS.

Your first mistake is GSF Terrain

Don't just do the whole thing all the way down, if you want to use those terrain bricks instead of plates or cubes then you need to try and make it look more varied.

I love the castle, but please make the hill varied.

add different ramps in different places, and maybe add some 1x1 blocks here and there for added detail.

I'm almost 100% certain this is bannable.

I also really really hope it is.

Nice castle dude.

Castle is lovey but

EDIT: Update. How's this look?

Much better. You can notice some funnelling or paths in your hills, these will be hot points for traffic, it's helpful in terrain, because not every rocky steep hill is climbable regardless which way you go up.
Continue like this, make add a little more varied, meaning don't keep this same template for the rest of the hills, and you should be good.
Also, don't just climb down, have a few platues or cliffs here and there, really give it some pasazz.

The second pic looks WAY better.

Even arbitrary variations like that make a big difference in how terrain looks and feels.

Good, but shouldn't there be a pathway leading to the castle?
