Author Topic: I finally got a laptop  (Read 464 times)

After almost a year of waiting, I finally got my first laptop today at Walmart. It is a Samsung Series 3 with an Intel i3 clocked at 2.4 GHZ, 4 gigs of ram, and Intel 3000 HD graphics. I got it for $368 after taxes. So far its doing everything I want and more with no lag whatsoever. It has a 15.6 inch screen and weighs somewhere <5.5 pounds. It has Windows 8, which I don't particularly care for, but there's nothing wrong with it. Here is the page describing the laptop.

Nice, laptops can be pretty alright for playing BL though you are more likely to have to compromise shaders.

Yay, another 3000 intel person. Welcome to the "You cant run games club". :)

I was able to run shaders at medium with decent framerate, around 45-50 fps. Hopped in a server with dense brick population of like 9000-10000.

This laptop is primarily for school work. Of course I'm going to play games when I can, but work power was what I had in mind while purchasing it, not gaymen power.

Edit: Feels good to be sitting in bed browsing the Internets. Battery is lasting quite a while on power saver just using the internet. But, when I was playing on the server mentioned before hand, it drained it down to 10% quickly when I had performance mode on.

Derp. That's awesome. My graphics card is ancient.

I played Blockland, Half Life 2, Portal, and even Garrys Mod on an Intel GMA X3100 in a MacBook.

It can be donee.

Pre-v21 can be done on a 2008 MacBook Air (FPS drop at about 50k bricks, and the dreaded 800MHz slowdown will kick in). Haven't tested out post-v21, though.

I just got a new laptop, yesterday. I love laptops. :)
