Author Topic: VCE - RPG Tree  (Read 1170 times)

I made a RPGish tree with VCE.  Then I made a video about it.

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MoSgrdjQxc

This particular project shows a little about using text commands and VCE.  For example in this video you can say "yield 2 6" in team chat to change the amount of logs yielded by the tree.

I would like to set up a way of saving and loading the settings for the trees via VCE.  Also maybe a separate admin-only tool to change the prefs, so I don't have to depend on the keys.

Wow thats only been made for almost every RPG on this game.

Nope

Most trees on RPGs (That are made from VCE) can't have the maxhealth and other properties changed by a chat command.

Anyways I really like it, one of the best VCE trees I have seen so far :D

Me and Jerkface made an entirely event sided woodcutting leveling system with the old variables. The more you leveled up, the faster you would receive wood.

Also, default pine?
C'mon, build a tree.

Why would you ever need to change that in the first place?

I'd love to put all those events on every wood block of my built tree!

Well if you wanted certain trees to be more productive than other trees.  Or some trees weaker, you can do it without entering the event menu and scrolling through the 30+ events to find the one you want.

Ha. Yeah.  That would be pretty hard.  Although I'm pretty sure you could use the leaves and as an input, and have some sort of a counter brick keeping track in the middle.  And then you could use relays to send information in (I do not want to be the one renaming every new tree).  And, maybe a specially timed relay to cause the collapse.  But that specially timed relay might have problems with two people hitting at once.  And I can't remember if using relays to send info actually works for people other than the brick owner.  idk.  It'd all be really complicated.

I really wish someone would just make a few new trees.  I did a search and I only found one new tree brick.  http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=198392.0  But it's not all that different from the original.  :(

This is why you use functions. Extensive relays lag the server. I hope that you did you make the chat commands work with a relay loop. I will murder you in your sleep if you did.

No no no. My trees, only the main eye level section of the trunk (where the axe would normally hit) is where the events are. And that is just one brick cause I built them right.

Because, you know! All the leaves give you wood too!
...

I mean, I don't know about you but chest high cone trees just don't cut it for me.
