Author Topic: Questioning Shadows and Shaders  (Read 1283 times)

I just noticed, when they were first ever talked about (development thread) the shadows were more blurry and less like a perfectly straight line. I like the blurry way better as the straight lines have weird ridges on them.

Would other types of GLSL shaders be able to be added? Could they be made addons? Could there be optional shaders default, the one we have now and then one more blurry?

Ever hear of DOF?
I forgot to add it in, still though they looked blurry.

most def dof

just rub your greasy fingers all over the screen until its nice and blurry

btw you need to use a fog emitter for that light ray effect

God dangit, what's it called if you know it? I've actual been wondering how to get that effect.

it's fog b, default, it's the sun + fog to get the effect

There is fog on the shadows.

It's the Fog B emitter used.

I wasn't asking about the fog, look at the shadow of the truck on the first image, the shadow is really smooth. Then look at mine and you see little ridges on the top.

Even with the DOF it still has the ridges.

The shadows in the announce topi were anti aliased

Or it's just image editing to make the product look prettier than it actually is.

I prefer those shadows than the ones we have now, If anyhing wouldn't it make it increase FPS since it won't have to draw out each line exactly but instead just the area around it?
