Author Topic: Guitar songs  (Read 970 times)

New semester starts on Wednesday of this coming week, and I have Guitar II. I plan to take Guitar III my next and final year, so I hope to do well in the class. I stopped playing guitar since the class, but lately I've been practicing, doing my drills, playing songs, etc, and from experience the best way to practice guitar, is to play the guitar (aka songs, not just sitting in a room playing random notes and identifying them by sound all day.)

So, recommend me some songs that you guys like, who knows, maybe I'll upload a video or two.

Key:
[D] = Done learning
[L] = Learning

unimportant: I own a cherry red squire (something something) electric guitar, and then my most recent addition, my Ibanez V70CE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric with Trans Blue paint / finish;

I started playing electric guitar when I was seven, and now I'm seventeen. I (obviously) haven't played a lot, but with the acoustic, I began to play a lot more, even for fun as opposed to just practice. I don't want guitar-playing to be my career, but I think it's a good skill to have and it's something fun to do that people can enjoy, whether the artist or audience.

I couldn't take guitar I this year because so many loving freshmen signed up for it because it's a new course.
I've had two years of weekly private lessons, and my guidance consular said I could skip I and go straight to II with a note.
Anywho, I like your song list. Nice variety. Videos would be pretty cool too.

You forgot the best!!! Free Bird!!!

I'd just skip straight to II. Guitar I for me was way too loving stupid. All those freshman you mentioned? They don't practice, study, etc, so they fail the class with like a 50~ and during playing quizzes, they forget up BIG time. Like, the teacher asks for ONE E chord, and he plays an F, pauses for like half an hour and goes "Wait, can I try again? I think I messed up..." The only only good things I got out of Guitar I was getting to know my teacher better, learned how to tune my guitar in every possible way, know my chords by heart and know good ways to practice speed.

Like I said, might do videos, might not. It'd be fun, but my camera is kinda stuffty. We'll see what happens :L

It's a good song, but in terms of guitar, I've never liked the sound of it... The vocals are really kinda the key part to that. In the realm of guitars, it's just a bunch of pull-offs and simple chords... I could probably learn it in a little less than a day or two.

Not even kidding, I was considering making a topic exactly like this, because I need to learn some songs for a talent show. :l
Now I can't because this exists.

Use it to your advantage. There's a good healthy list of songs, look through, listen and pick one, if you don't want any of them, just help keep the topic alive.
So far no recommendations. That's kinda heart breaking.

Once I figured out the penantonic scale and the 1,4,5 chord progression, everything rock became super easy.

Why is too difficult a W? That seems...odd.

Because [td with the capping ']' is some form of BBC code or other, and so it doesn't show up.
learn this one
[WWWWWW]

But really loving cool. I wish I could play a lot of dragon force's songs, but I'm not that good :L
Maybe after guitar III... Could be fun.

Do the solo from either Somebody To Love or Bohemian Rhapsody.

Will add both next time I edit OP (aka tomorrow after school)

wat
Will fix when next edit, I blame google chrome's autocorrect thing.

also something you could do so you don't have to do [W] is use [nobbc] tags around any that conflict with BBcode
