Author Topic: How to convince dad?  (Read 1314 times)

I really want to upgrade my computer by selling my old parts and buying new parts. My father will not let me as he keeps saying that I shouldn't do it, it is a waste of money, waste of time, I should do something better than that, etc...

Any ideas of how to convince him to let me?

get into the computer megathread, find some sweet evidence of why it wouldn't be a waste of money, and why it's constructive in terms of time. they have it all over there.

so your dad would never buy a new car battery, he would just get a new car?

Use this argument. He'll understand unless he's a tard.

But a car battery usually comes with the car, even if it sucks.

Just tell him that it's something you want to do, it's your computer so what's the problem?

Car batteries do not last forever. They eventually get weak, warn out, die, ex.

conversely, sabotage the internal workings to make the forced argument you need new parts.

You won't get decent stuff for the value of your old parts, how much extra money you have?

If you're my dad you buy a new car even if there's nothing wrong with the battery.

You'll probably use your upgraded computer for spending all your life playing games, he has a good point.

Versus doing "important real life stuff"? As long as Titanium doesn't grow up to be a leech; there's no problem.

"You're just gonna use that to play games huh?"
"No dad. This stuff is for research."

Say that in a sarcastic tone and you might make him angry.
