Americuh?
Also, we have our own element. Americium.
Americium is named after the continent(s) of America, which includes the USA, Mexico and Canada, the Central American countries and the South American countries, such as Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
The continent of Europe has it's own similar element too, Europium.
We all know Scotland is the bestest! Free education and health care. :)
Free Education so long as you're Scottish or a member of the EU, but not the English.
Which is terribly unfair, since the fees for education come out of taxes paid for by the entire United Kingdom.
But atleast we all enjoy high-quality free national healthcare, and don't scream and cry about it, like the citizens of some countries.
Perhaps the worst thing about patriotism in England is that it's got a horrible Stigma attatched.
It seems that in order to show any patriotic view at all, which is a fair view, to enjoy and appreciate and be proud of your country and heritage, you seemingly have to be considered as something worse.
There comes an awkward symbiosis with the traits of patriotism and racism.
I had a friend come around my house before and saw that a few decorations around my house were in the style and motif of the Union Flag. A doormat, a Jubilee Scarf, a single wall-hanging printed canvas, two storage boxes. His immediate thought is that my family must be supporters or part of the BNP, the British National Party, who are a political party who essentially have the views that anyone who isn't British or White should be removed from the country and that Women should lose all their rights.
For some reason, this concept has drifted over from two things.
1) Cult-popularity in being anti-Royalist (which is an uncommon view nationally (As shown by numerous government and media polls), but somehow accepted as being the norm).
And
2) Brash American Patriotism with a sincere lack of international awareness. It seems that the view of being Patriotic, outside of the USA, means you will take on an appearance of ignorance, racism and hostility.
Unless you're a citizen of the USA. In which case it's tolerated, because the general view is that you're all ignorant, hostile tribals.
So, basically, to sum it up, Americans have soiled patriotism in general. Congratulations.
I'm a bit late, but the US does have its own oil fields, and it would be possible to take oil by force if needed.
Seems a bit of a stupid idea.
We don't pay our debts to a country, so they cut off the oil supply to us, which we aren't paying for, and invade them instead.
I don't think invasion would go down well.
Invasion of the Middle East didn't exactly work out, and you didn't conquer that and gain it's Oil.
Which essentially leaves either bigger countries, which will fight you off tooth-and-nail, (most of these are your allies, by the way), or you invade smaller countries, which would definitely be defended by other large countries.
I think it's a common misconception that America would be capable of, aswell as allowed by the rest of the world, to invade anywhere they want, without political/military backing or without any opposition.
